The organisation of the Office of the Attorney-General

In order to diligently discharge his functions as laid down by law, the Attorney-General organised his office into five functional areas including 1] the Deputies,2] the Criminal Justice Department, 3] the Legal and Strategy Management Department,4] the Juvenile and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Department and 5] the Administration Department. Each Department is headed by a Director.

The Deputies

Under the leadership and guidance of the Attorney-General, the Deputies advise and act on behalf of the State in all criminal matters in the criminal courts in the country. They deputise for the Attorney-General in his other responsibilities in the administration of the criminal justice system as enumerated in the (Draft) Office of the Attorney-General Law (2013) including: visiting police stations, prisons and detention centers, guiding and supervising police investigation, processing and collection of evidence, monitor investigations to ensure that they are conducted according to the law and to review all actions taken in criminal justice matters.
