Criminal Justice Department

The Director and staff of the Criminal Justice Department is responsible for providing advice and support to the Attorney-General and for discharging its coordinating functions as set out in the (Draft) Attorney-General Law 2013. Key functions include advising the Attorney General on the administration of criminal justice including legal aid and condition of prisons; coordination of criminal proceedings in the AGO; receiving case files from regional offices of the Attorney-General and investigation agencies; monitoring and analyzing major criminal cases and preparing report to the Attorney-General regarding outcomes; monitoring and collection of data on criminal cases; liasing with other offices in the criminal justice system.
